All About Black Wall Street

Right in the beginning of the 20th century, the black community in Tulsa –popularly known as the ‘Greenwood District’ –became an entrepreneurial sector that served the rights of the minority of black people in America. But what else was this place about?

Well, African Americans in Oklahoma created their own community known as the Black Wall Street or Negro Wall Street in the early 1920s. This city of Tulsa had services and even business opportunities for the Black people without any racist approach. This place had a Black hospital, 2 Black public school, 1 Black public library, 2 Black theatres, 2 Black newspapers, 13 churches, 5 hotels, more than 30 restaurants and a total of around 600 Black businesses!
